Because of popular demand, we’re extending nominations over the weekend and into next week! We’re looking for nominations that recognise: ·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýA deaf child or young person — who has gone above and beyond to demonstrate that deaf children can achieve their potential. ·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýAn adult — such as a professional, teacher, parent or caregiver — who, like Claire, has gone above and beyond to support a deaf child or children to achieve their potential and/or challenge perceptions of what deaf children can achieve. ·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýWhether it’s a teacher who made learning accessible, a parent who never gave up, or a deaf young person who inspires others — we want to hear their story. ✨ Past winners have included: |
| ·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýSanemi Parashar, a young ambassador and mentor who overcame balance issues and supports others through charity work and cochlear implant advocacy.
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýTricia Kemp, founder of the Cochlear Implanted Children’s Support Group. ·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýSusan Brownson, deputy head and leader of the deaf provision at Laycock Primary School. ·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýLauren Press, a passionate advocate and mentor for younger deaf students. ·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýSt George’s Hospital Auditory Implant Service, recognised for their outstanding support of deaf children. We’re proud these awards are now in their third year, in memory of Claire, who was dedicated to supporting deaf children to have the same opportunities in life as their hearing peers. As the mother of three children, two of whom are profoundly deaf and learnt to listen and talk at with Auditory Verbal therapy, Claire was, and remains, a source of inspiration to many families across the UK and internationally. Claire helped so many people, many of whom she never met, but reached with her kindness and compassion. Nominate someone exceptional today by writing a paragraph about what they have done and achieved, and why they should be recognised with an award. Email me at [email protected] by Thursday 9 October. |
