Job overview
We are seeking a motivated experienced and enthusiastic Specialist Teacher of the Deaf to join our well established multidisciplinary team within a nationally recognised centre of excellence for ENT and Audiovestibular Medicine. This Band 8a role offers the opportunity to work at an advanced specialist level in clinical and outreach settings, supporting deaf children and young people and their families. The post holder will have substantial experience of working with deaf children and young people, including babies and those with complex additional needs. You will demonstrate advanced expertise in auditory rehabilitation and habilitation, including cochlear implants, bone conduction devices and hearing aids.

Main duties of the job
You will play a senior role in the assessment of newly referred patients, contribute to decision making for cochlear implantation, and support ongoing habilitative and diagnostic management. The role involves close collaboration within audiovestibular medicine services and specialist multidisciplinary clinics, providing clinical leadership and contributing to the development and review of individualised packages of care. You will provide expert advice and outreach support to specialist services, and contribute to clinical audit, service development, research and teaching to MSc level. You will be well organised, able to work autonomously and flexibly, and skilled at prioritising a complex caseload. Excellent communication skills and strong IT skills are essential.
