“I hope you’re well. My name is Maria, and I’m an Involvement Officer at the National Deaf Children’s Society.
We are keen to meet and speak with parents and carers from South Asian backgrounds with a child or children who is deaf or has a hearing loss aged 0-11, and professionals and service providers who support them.
We want to understand and address any challenges families of deaf children from South Asian backgrounds may face, as well as what works well, when accessing our support and the support they receive more widely from other service providers.
The aim of the research project is to learn more about their experiences and the experiences of those who support them, and find out how we provide and promote better, more inclusive support and representation.

We are getting in touch to see if:Â
You could help us spread the word to parents or carers who we’re hoping to interview – or if you know of any other professionals who may be able to help, to then share with them?
Please see and share the ‘Parent and carer involvement’Ìý»å´Ç³¦³Ü³¾±ð²Ô³ÙÌý(¾±²Ô PDF and Word format) for more details including information on who we’re looking to interview.
This includes a link to our Expression of Interest Sign Up form that the parents or carers can complete themselves. We have also included a printable/downloadable pdf version of the invitation. We can also provide a short message that can be texted to families, so please let us know if you prefer this.
Alternatively, if you think that a parent or a carer would be interested but has accessibility needs, such as a language interpreter or support with form-filling, with their permission you can share their preferred contact details with us (i.e. email address or phone number) and we can arrange support.

You would like to be involved yourself – if so, please read below. We would love to hear from you!

All information shared will be kept confidential. You will participate as an individual professional, sharing your own personal expertise and experiences. You will not be expected to speak on behalf of your employer.
We hope to arrange a one-hour online interviews during 11th–15th May, but timing can be flexible.
As a thank you, we will offer you a £25 Amazon or Supermarket gift voucher for taking part in an online interview.
