“I hope you’re well. My name is Maria, and I鈥檓 an Involvement Officer at the National Deaf Children鈥檚 Society.
We聽are keen to meet and speak with parents聽and carers聽from聽South Asian聽backgrounds聽with聽a聽child聽or聽children who is聽deaf聽or has聽a hearing聽loss聽aged聽0-11,聽and聽professionals and service providers who support them.
We want to聽understand and address any challenges families of deaf children from聽South Asian聽backgrounds聽may聽face,聽as well as what works well,聽when accessing our support and the support they receive more widely聽from聽other service providers.
The aim of the聽research聽project is to learn more about their experiences聽and the experiences of those who support them, and find out how we provide聽and promote聽better, more inclusive support and representation.

You could help us聽spread the word to parents or carers聽who聽we鈥檙e聽hoping to interview聽– or if you know of any other professionals who may be able to help, to then share with them?

This includes a link to our聽Expression of Interest Sign Up form聽that the parents or carers can complete themselves.聽We聽have聽also聽included聽a printable/downloadable pdf version聽of the invitation. We can also provide聽a short message that can be texted to families, so please let us know if you prefer this.
Alternatively, if you think that a parent or a carer would be interested but聽has聽accessibility needs,聽such as a language interpreter or support with form-filling,聽with聽their permission聽you can share their preferred contact details with us (i.e. email address or phone number)聽and we can arrange support.

Involvement by聽professionals聽and other service providers
We’re聽also keen to speak with professionals like you who support South Asian families with a deaf child or a child with hearing loss聽living in one of these areas: Blackburn, Bradford, Leeds,聽Liverpool聽and Pendle. We want to understand what works well聽and聽what would help you better support these families.
All information shared will be聽kept聽confidential.聽You will聽participate聽as an individual professional, sharing your own personal聽expertise聽and experiences. You聽will聽not聽be聽expected to speak on behalf of your employer.
We hope to arrange聽a one-hour聽online interviews during聽11th鈥�15th May, but timing can be flexible.
As a thank you,聽we will offer聽you聽a聽拢25 Amazon or Supermarket gift voucher for taking part in an online interview.
