Leading Black American Deaf actress Michelle A. Banks stars inCompensationwhich is having its long-delayed theatrical release after 25 years. It premiered in February at the Lincoln Center in New York and is being currently released throughout the United States and Canada until the launch of the Criterion Blu-ray in August. I am the screenwriter. The film is directed by, independent filmmaker and University of California professor. In December 2024, Compensation was selected along with 25 others for preservation by theof the U.S. Library of Congress for “cultural, historical and aesthetic importance.”
