My name isÌýand I am a hearing and cochlear implant researcher from University of Southampton.Ìý I work withÌý. Over the last few years, we have built a group calledÌýwhich is for people with lived experience of hearing loss and deafness. Members of the group work in partnership with researchers to ensure the research we do is relevant and impactful to people with hearing loss or deafness and their families.
We have now launched aÌýYoung People’s Advisory GroupÌý(YPAG) for young people with lived experience of hearing loss or deafness. This is to ensure the voice of young people is included our hearing research.
Who are we looking for:Ìý
Young peopleÌýaged 14 – 16 yearsÌýold who are deaf or hard of hearingÌýandÌýsiblings of young people who are deaf or hard of hearing (aged 14-16 years).
What will it involve:
We will run meetings every 3-4 months (mostly online with some in-person) where young people can share their ideas and have their say about their lived experience of deafness. There will be opportunities to get involved with public engagement activities too.
For more information:Ìý
