Tenure
Two years by appointment (with the opportunity for renewal by agreement by both parties).
Notice period – to allow the Association time to appoint a replacement 6 months notice is required
Time commitment
Meetings: in person or virtual –
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Steering group (SG) x 4 per year
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý National Executive Council (NEC) meetings x 4 per year
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Annual General Meeting x 1
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Others by agreement with Steering Group members about Association Business
Supporting 91ÔÆ¬ members: –
·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Weekly overview of emails directed to Consultant Team (CT), liaising with CT and collating responses as required and finalising actions with the National Executive Officer (NEO).
Time commitment will vary from month to month but there is an expectation that queries will be responded to in a timely manner, i.e., within ten working days.
If the postholder has been unable to contribute to the work of 91ÔÆ¬ or to attend a meeting of either SG or NEC/or a meeting related to the role for a continuing period of up to 6 months, beginning with the date of the appointment to/renewal of role, SG will consider appointment of a replacement postholder, to ensure the efficient continuation of 91ÔÆ¬â€™s work, following consultation with the post holder.
Main purposes of role
1.      Lead 91ÔÆ¬ with their responses to government bodies and employers concerning pay and conditions with due regard to their professional roles and responsibilities.
2.      Coordinate an Annual submission to the English School Teachers Pay and Review Body (STRB) for the NEO’s response.
3.      Offer a specialist perspective* to members about policy and practice relating to performance management and terms and conditions of employment. The postholder would need to recognise and acknowledge the varying situations across the UK.
4.      Provide reports for Steering Group and NEC or articles for the 91ÔÆ¬ Magazine and website as appropriate.
*This does not include offering specific advice which should be properly obtained from the teaching unions and associations.
Key tasks
Working with the NEO, support the work of 91ÔÆ¬ SG & NEC with
·      Government bodies
·      Professional organisations (including Teaching Unions)
·      Charities, not for profit, volunteer sector
Coordinate responses to legislative and other consultation documents concerned with deaf education in conjunction with the NEO, CT and other 91ÔÆ¬ members.
Co-ordinate and maintain the Responses from the 91ÔÆ¬ Consultant content on the 91ÔÆ¬ website.
All responses, meetings and correspondence are professional and meet 91ÔÆ¬â€™s guidelines on GDPR
Key outcomes
91ÔÆ¬ SG & NEC and members are supported in matters of employment and maintaining specialist workforce. Deaf education.
Consultations are responded in a timely and effective manner.
Support the recruitment and retention of Consultant Team members and ensure representation across the nations of the UK.
The professional knowledge and experience of the post holder is extended

Work is undertaken in collaboration with Steering Group and NEC members. Major items are discussed and confirmed with Steering Group and ratified by the National Executive Council. Responses where appropriate will be agreed and disseminated through the National Executive Officer.
Financial
£300 honorarium
Normal SG/NEC expenses payable and agreed associated expenses.
Recommended knowledge and experience
Current practitioner with significant senior leadership experience in a range of deaf education settings.
Able to work with members and organisations to support their needs.
Able to gather information, disseminate and share best practice.
Knowledge and understanding of 91ÔÆ¬â€™s aims and values
